Raksha Bandhan 2020: Here’s How You Can Mark The Festival Of Bonds Amid Lockdown

The current pandemic of coronavirus should not stop you from celebrating Raksha Bandhan. Read on for a few tips on how you can mark the day.

We like it or not, the year 2020 has changed a lot of things around us. And now, it is time to also embrace change in how we celebrate festivals. India is all about its rich heritage culture and many festivals, celebrated by people of all religions and castes. Among all the major festivities, Raksha Bandhan holds a special place in all our hearts. Almost people of all the states mark this festival of love and bond with enthusiasm. However, this year things will be a lot different than it was in the yesteryear. While we didn’t see this coming, but now that we are in the situation, wherein we are fighting against a pandemic, here are a few tips that will help you to celebrate Raksha Bandhan amid the lockdown in the best way possible.

Celebrate Raksha Bandhan Online

Due to coronavirus pandemic, the mere source of easy and safe communication left with us are video calls and voice calls. However, this shouldn’t stop you from bestowing the love upon your sisters and brothers and marking the festival in the best of your capacity. Sport the most stunning traditional outfit you have in your closet, try some celebrity-inspired hairstyle, and makeup. There is no reason to look dull and boring on this Raksha Bandhan. Remember if your sibling is far away, you just can’t tie rakhi on his/her wrist, but you can and should perform one of the most imperative customs, that is wishing for his/her long life while carrying out aarti ritual.

Prepare Homemade Sweets & Rakhi

It is best that we avoid going out and shopping for things that we usually buy during festivals like Raksha Bandhan. Since we are embracing changes, let’s attempt to make scrumptious sweets and the most beautiful DIY rakhis at home. After all, there is no fun without being a little creative. While you will be flaunting the rakhi made by you on social media, the homemade healthy sweet will boost your and your family's immunity.

Play Online Games On Raksha Bandhan

No matter if you are together with your family amid the pandemic, or are staying away in some different city, no one can stop you from enjoying and teasing your siblings a little bit while playing games. Reminisce your childhood memories by playing some online games like ludo, chess, Chinese checkers, carom, etc. This will help you to strengthen the bond with them. Other than your siblings, also involve your parents while playing the online games, after all, festivals are all about bringing family together. Don’t forget to take photos in the end!

Donate Money, Food & Clothes On Raksha Bandhan

Many have lost their jobs and the only source of income due to the pandemic of the novel coronavirus. We are not just talking about the low-income people of the society, but also many other service class people and a few celebrities. Instead of or along with giving money or gifts to your siblings, also consider donating something to the relief funds, gurudwaras, or to the local volunteers. Make sure while you are able to have quality meals three to four times a day, others, who are suffering can also have food to eat and clothes to wear during the festival.

Resolve Feuds On Raksha Bandhan

There are hardly any siblings on earth, who haven’t had arguments and fights. While some people resolve it quickly and move on, there are others, who keep things inside them and stay angry with their brothers and sisters, despite loving them very much. Raksha Bandhan is the festival of love and bond, so, don’t let your siblings be angry from you on this auspicious day. If this year has taught us one thing, it is that life is unpredictable and you should live it to the fullest before it’s too late. So even if it is your mistake or your sibling’s mistake, take initiative to resolve the feuds and make a few ground rules to tackle such situations in the future without causing much damage.

"Unbeatable Super Mom - Mary Kom"

There had to be one successful story if Indians were to survive in sports and we have that story now. Enough has been said about this great warrior who conquered the world. This warrior is none other than Mary Mangte Kom-the Komqueror and the Komrade. She is famed as a five times World Boxing Champion and the only boxer to win a medal in every one of the six world championships. In the 2012 Olympics, she became the first Indian woman boxer to qualify and win a bronze medal in the 51 Kg flyweight category of Boxing. Kom was born is Kangthei village, Moirang Lamkhai in Churachandpur district of rural Manipur in eastern India. She came from a poor family. Her parents, Mangte Tonpa Kom and Mangte Akham Kom were tenant farmers who worked in jhum fields. Her father was a keen wrestler in his younger age. She had an eager interes

"Autobiography of Parrot"

Hello friends, I am a parrot today I want to tell something about me and something about my life. I am red and blue in colour with a red beak. My name is Mithu. Sadly, I live in a cage. The family that has caged me are very kind and look after me very well. They keep my cage clean and give me all the things I like to eat.  They have even taught me to speak a few words. But they do not realise how suffocated I feel here. I would rather be out in the open, flying with my friends.    Arun, the boy in the house, calls his friends regularly and makes me speak. All of them are so  delighted when I do. For them I am a source of entertainment. When the family finds that I am talking too much they put a cloth over my cage.    Really, it is quite boring standing all day on this small swing. What a pity it is to waste life in these cage!I long for the free air and the blue skies. But who will let me go? [ suffocated- prevented from developing in a proper way.  frequently- often. long for-

"Autobiography of a tiger"

"Autobiography of a tiger"         Hello friends, I am a tiger I want to tell something about me and something about my life. I was born in the Sundarbans eight years ago. I had one brother and one sister. My parents, especially my mother, looked after me very well. She told me that I had to be very careful for there were human beings called 'hunters' who would try to capture or kill me. I could not imagine why anyone would want to kill me, for I have not harmed anyone .       I was very careful after that. I stayed with my mother for some time; then I wandered off on my own. One day, I saw a goat near a tree. I was very hungry, and forgot all the advice that my mother had given me. I ran towards the goat, but suddenly I felt something pull my leg. I fell into a pit-a trap, I believe it is called. I was pulled out after some time, and taken to a circus.       Fortunately, my master at the circus was a kind man and treated me well.
