The Bugatti Chiron is officially the world's fastest supercar -- and by quite a long shot, too. Top Gear broke the news on Monday, confirming Bugatti test driver, Andy Wallace, reached a v-max of 304.77 miles per hour on the Volkswagen Group's Ehra-Lessien test track in Germany.
2. Hennessey Venom F5:301 mph.
The Venom F5 will have an LS-based iron block engine. The top speed is claimed to be 301 mph (484 km/h) through a V-MAX speed-tracking system. Hennessey predicts the car will accelerate from 0–186 mph (0–300 km/h) in a time of under 10 seconds and from 0–249 mph (0–400 km/h) in a time of about 20 seconds.
3.SSC Tuatara: 300+mph.
- The SSC Tuatara is a sports car manufactured by American automobile manufacturer SSc North America (formerly Shelby SuperCars Inc.). The car is the successor to the SSc Areo and is the result of a design collaboration between Jason Castitroa and SSC. Initially it was to be powered by a 6.9-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine but eventually the capacity of the engine was reduced to 5.9-liters in order to allow the engine to have a higher redline of 8,800 rpm. SSC has stated that the power output would be at 1,350 hp (1,007 kW; 1,369 PS) or 1,750 hp (1,305 kW; 1,774 PS) on E85 fuel, along with the top speed goal of 300 mph (483 km/h).
- 4.Koenigsegg Agera RS: 278 mph.
On the first, Koenigsegg test driver Niklas Lilja hit 271.2 mph, fast enough to best the unofficial one-way record of 270.39 mph set by the Hennessey Venom GT in 2014. The return run at 284.6 mph simply left the Hennessey and every other car ever made in the desert dust. That includes the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, which has held the official record of 267.8 mph since 2013.
5.Hennessey Venom GT: 270 mph.
On January 21, 2013, the Venom GT set a Guinness World Record for the fastest road legal car from 0–186 mph (0–300 km/h) with an average acceleration time of 13.63 seconds. In addition, the car set an unofficial record for 0–200 mph (0–322 km/h) acceleration at 14.51 seconds, beating the Koenigsegg Agera R's time of 17.68 seconds, making it the unofficial fastest accelerating road legal car in the world.
